JAZZ ON WASHINGTON AVENUE - OLIVER JOHNSON TRIO
by Dwight L. Quinn 3/14/2014
Nothing but raw talent, is the best way to describe trumpeter/singer/songwriter and recording artist Oliver Johnson who at young age of nine first began playing the trumpet backed by the inspiration and motivation of his mother, the late Roberta Johnson whom made it her life goal to coach and guide young Oliver into the master musician that he has become. Growing up in East St. Louis,Illinois Oliver
got to experience the mentorship of the industry's big-named Artists like,Tabb Smith,Leo Chears,Miles Davis, Albert King, who helped Oliver further developed his musical skills. Oliver put his best foot forward when the Label gave him the green light in producing, the album,"Jazz On Washington Avenue",Oliver had opportunity to select songs that formed the mixture of straight ahead jazz with modern and contemporary all together on this must-listen to album. Original songs like,"Brazil,""Quiet Street",and"In The Moment" topped off the mood that Oliver was trying to capture in,"Jazz On Washington Avenue".
Time sort of stood still as the sound of,"Eternal Triangle" and "Mr. Kenyata" bellowed out that hip,
down beat, mellow sound that you use to hear backin the day vibrating out from those cool romantic Jazz
Clubs was frequent venue of choice for Jazz lovers and jazz entertainment.
Accompanying Oliver Johnson on "Jazz On Washington Avenue,"Henry Burns, piano and keyboards, the late "Raymond Eldridges Jr."bass,"Wallace Alvin Troop,"drums, Henry Taylor,"guitar and Oliver Johnson,"horns.

(RE-HATCHING THE PAST) LARRY MOODY MAKING BIG BUZZ WITH SONG ABOUT PRESIDENT OBAMA
by Dwight L. Quinn
(10/14/2013
Rapper-songwriter Larry Moody is creating buzz for himself and even getting
recognition from President Obama for this song, "Repect Before You Ellect,"
Moody spoke with rolling out about his positive music and upcoming porjects.
-iesha danial
How did"Respect Before You Elect" come about?
My cousin ccame to me and said, Larry, you know we're going to have a
chance to have our first black president. I think we should do a song to
get out here and help the world. What do you think about " Respect Before
You Elect? And I said, it sounds good. And I wrote the whole song. Once
Obama became the President, I said, "Wow, now it's time to do another
song. So that's how I came up with "Respect and Protect: Obama's the
President".
How did it feel to be recognized by President Obama?
That was truly a blessing. That was one of the greatest things of my life,
when his staff got a chance to view my songs and listen to it before the
President got it.
What advice would you give to someone interested in pursuing a career
in the music industry?
When you know you have talent and you know that you've creative, you
just have to keep going. You can't worry about whether you're going to
blow up or you're going to make millions of dollars. It's gift that you have
and you have to keep going.
What's next for you?
Right now I have a record label that's looking at my stuff. I'm in the process
of doing a jingle for the Cardinals. I'm working on a fundraiser in St. Louis
and I'm going to put that together to help the homeless and underprivileged
people. I can truly say, no matter how big I get or how famous, I still want
to help other people.

QUINN RECORDS TM RELEASES NEW ALBUM ON NOVEMBER 5 THE BEST OF OLIVER JOHNSON
by Dwight L. Quinn
09/29/2013
Two time Sodexho Award-winning blues/soul/jazz trumpeter Oliver Johnson is one of the most proliferated trumpet greats of all time....Oliver, known as the guy who brought the trumpet to Soul." On November 5, 2013 Quinn Records TM will release The Best of Oliver Johnson, a rocking collection of Oliver's top tunes celebrating Oliver's six years as an international blues/soul/jazz recording artist and a professional musical experience that started at age seven. Recorded in Centreville, Illinois and produced by Quinn Records TM producer/ songwriter/ label owner,Dwight L. Quinn the album is a mix of blues and soul sounds that allowed Oliver to stretch his thundering-trumpet solo's to all time highs.
Oliver wrote,You Make Me Sing The Blues track, Quinn wrote five additional tracks and the album was topped with four covers. The songs were collected from Oliver's best-sellers. The Best of Oliver Johnson will bring Oliver's discography to nine albums, since signing with Quinn Records TM in 2004.
Making up the core of Oliver's Nite Train band on the CD are Benton (drums), Henry Taylor
(guitar), Oliver (keyboards), Nephew Davis (bass), Oliver (Trumpet). Oswald Peters and Julio each add guitar to three tracks. Oliver, who vocal duties are to wam-bam the audience, was inspired by the sessions to monorate in the songs, something that ole band musician use to do, talk to the audience and/or the band members while the song is in play, singing If You Repay Evil For Good,Oliver would break out and direct his Nite Train Band and shout out to whoever is listening that it's hot up in here, making The Best of Oliver Johnson the most personal, free-jamming and just plain fun recording of his nearly four-decade career.
According to Oliver, "I have a personal attachment to the music in this album. Mr. Harry Turner my music teacher while in high school would always reminded me that music is about feeling -- And I don't ever forget that".
My hope is that everyone who listens to,The Best of Oliver Johnson feels it. I know that I sure did!" Oliver is signed with the prestigious LA De Da Entertainment and Events in St. Louis and he will be touring nationally in support of the album.
Oliver's history is proof that dreams do come true. Oliver at age six, began his study as a vocalist with his mother,Roberta Johnson of Uttica Mississippi. Roberta, who was a gospel church singer, also introduced Oliver to the music of performers like Louis Armstrong and Nancy Wilson. When Oliver was eight years old, a famous jazz organist Tabb Smith and his groups use to rehearse in Oliver's home. At ten years old, Oliver started the study of the trumpet with Mr. Harry Turner of the Count Basie Band.
Oliver's first professional performances at thirteen, started at the Cosmo Hall in East St. Louis that featured regular acts like Ike Turner, Johnny Johnson, Chuck Berry, Little Milton and Albert King.
After high school Oliver started touring with Waestmoreland, Inc. The Band that eventually became Albert King's Band included Motown-Recording regulars like, Tyrone Perry and Paul Jackson. For twelve years (12) Oliver toured throughout UK and Japan playing trumpet and singing with Mel and Tim (Backfield In Motion), Joe Tex (Skinny Leg's and All), Shirley Brown (Woman to Woman), Albert King (Born Under A Bad Sign), Gladys Knight & The Pips, Rufus Thomas (Walking The Dog), and Carla Thomas (B-A-B-Y Baby).
Aside from Oliver's regular performances he has recently played the Black Rep's Production "One More Time". Oliver is mostly known for his versatility in many different music formats, from Be-bop trumpet to Falsetto R&B singing.
He first recorded under his own name with his Cheese and Butter album a self-produced, project with the help of Roberta his mother. Hard Times! was his second project, Hard Times was later picked up and re-issued on Quinn Records TM label.
He made his first solo albums two in the late 1990's, with bands featuring outstanding musicians, including famed guitarist Oswald Peters. With his be-bop sound and rockin blues band (later featuring side man Henry Taylor), it wasn't long before he was adopted by the southern soul audience as one of their own. .
Oliver signed with Quinn Records TM in 2004, releasing Hard Times: On The Other Side of Midnight!
(which earned him his two Sodexho Lifetime Achievement Awards). In 2007 he joined the late Earl Wilson Jr. Gateway Classics annual events!. He won a Sedexho Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006 for his dedication to the arts.
During the mid-2000s Oliver has continued recording and touring relentlessly, playing clubs, concert halls and festivals all over, electrifying audiences wherever he performs. Oliver's 2012 Argosy Casino Show featuring the legendary Richard Brooks original founding member of infamous,Impressions was hailed as an over-whelming success.
Oliver and his Nite Train Band continues to tour and work nitely in clues and venues all around the St. Louis City and Metropolitan area and shortly Oliver will be touring internationally with his own band.
The Best of Oliver Johnson proves Oliver Johnson's be-bop rocking trumpeting is a true force of nature, while his songs and lyrics are a living history of the blues n soul earning him the reprutation as the guy who bought the trumpet to soul.
His thundering trumpet like Gabriel's is blowing the walls of blues and soul away. His improvisations on the blues and soul are full of fun and good humor. The blues and soul don't get much better."

A RECORD DEAL MATTERS
by Dwight L. Quinn
Quinn Records TM and other record companies alike, discover, nurture
and promote artistic talent.
We, the record companies are by far the largest upfront financial
investors in artists’ careers. We also bring a huge range of expertise
and experience to any campaign to bring a new artist
to a broad audience. No other industry player currently offers
access to such levels of investment or skills.
Behind the breaking of a new artist there are a dynamic combination
of creativity, talent, teamwork, strategy, finance and, of course,
lots of prayers. Each project requires significant investment in research
and development, as well as marketing and promotion.
In 2011, record companies were estimated to have invested
US$4.5 billion worldwide in artists and repertoire (A&R)
combined with marketing. This represented 26 per cent
of industry revenues. The four major labels combined had over
5,000 artists on their rosters and tens of thousands
more artists are signed to independent labels like ourselves.
New talent is the heartbeat of the industry and one in four of these
artists (23%) are new signings (signed in the last 12 months).
Quinn Record TM and labels alike are able to reinvest the proceeds
of successful campaigns in the discovery and nurturing of the next
generation of talent.
Research study by five independent bodies found
80 per cent of unsigned artists with professional ambitions
wanted a recording deal. The top reasons cited as ‘very important’
were marketing and promotional support (71%), TV and radio
contacts (58%), the ability to focus on the creative process (50%),
tour support (46%) and payment of a financial advance (45%).
The findings are supported by countless personal accounts
provided by unsigned artists and managers addressing this issue.
Without significant investment, industry expertise and
creativity (the business) and obviously the artist talent(the music),
it is extremely difficult to break an artist or band into popular
culture or the mainstream music markets.
So where DIY demonstrates the artist ability to approach the industry
in the correct manner, there is still no substitute for the experience
of the industry to move an artist project forward.”
Artists approach labels like Quinn Records TM wanting different types
of support.

HOW DO A SONG MAKE IT ON OUR TOP 10?
by Dwight L. Quinn
Each week (Monday and Friday), Quinn Records TM puts together a chart of it's top 10 most popular songs
based on a national sample of top 10 radio airplay, top 10 radio playlists, and music sales. Since our Top 10
comes from the 220 radio stations, APD,89 Digital Companies,YouTube Reporting, 40 Cable TV Channels tracked
each week, let's look at how our tracking is compiled.
First, there is airplay. What songs of ours that is actually being played on the radio and on music video channels
on TV and screaming? Frequent calls to program directors and disc jockeys that reports and have their finger on
the music, this is our good measure of what their listeners like.
Airplay is tracked through our in-house Radio trackers, Air Play Direct (APD), YouTube and Broadcast Data Systems
(BDS), run by Nielsen. BDS uses digital pattern-recognition technology to identify songs that are played on radio stations
and music video TV channels across the United States and Canada.
With the combination of Physical tracking a.k.a Manual tracking and the incorporation of tracking Technology, we've been
able to track 24 hours a day, seven days a week, following over 220 targeted Radio Stations,APD,Digital Distributor,Cable TV YouTube and Spotify weekly.
Our Radio Promotions Department manual tracking consist of Playlists and verbal reporting from Radio with emphasis placed on obtaining as close as possible the number of people listening to a the station and we would multiply that number by the number of times one of our songs are played.
When the company record a new song, a copy of the recording is sent to BDS so it can be encoded and tracked by its system on the stations it monitors. This data is used not only by Quinn in compiling our weekly Top 10 chart, but also by record company executives, radio stations, publishing firms, performance rights organizations (to calculate performance royalties), music retailers, independent promoters, film and TV producers, and artist managers.
Another measure of what song of ours that is hot and what people are buying. To find out what music is selling in record stores, Quinn goes to Sound Scan Nielsen Sound Scan is an information system that tracks the sales of music and music videos throughout the United States and Canada. By scanning the bar codes, they can collect sales information from cash registers each week from over 14,000 retail, mass merchant, and non-traditional sources such as online stores, concert sales, etc. The data is compiled and used in positioning the song on our Top 10 each Monday and Friday. Like BDS data, the data from Sound Scan is also very valuable for us in compiling a clear Top 10 Song Chart.
Our method for compiling our Top 10 Song chart have gone through a change or two over the past five years. Since publicizing our Radio Promotions Reports and Activities as a Promotional tool, we followed the foot prints of the icon of Charts, Billboard we to changed the weighting of airplay versus sales in the compiling our Top 10 Song Chart. We found through researching and practical experiences that tracking a single song through album sales isn't exactly accurate, singles sales have always been used to track the sales side of song popularity. But, since only about 20% of people actually buy singles and over 90% listen to the radio, it made sense for us too, to alter the ratio of points. Now, the overall points are weighted to 20% sales and 80% airplay.
Quinn's Top 10 Song Chart is an important and valuable tool that let our fans, user of our music, music retailers, radio stations, promoters, film and TV producers, artist managers know what kind of music that we offer and how the music that we offer is performing in the very highly competitive music marketplace. The information that our Top 10 Song Chart gives to the Buyer is precious, it gives the Buyer the kind of Education that he or she needs to make the right Buying decision.
Quinn bases its Top 10 Song charts on its own prerecorded music and what is already being played on the radio and purchased in music stores, this is also the avenue to how radio stations find out about our new music.

NEW RELEASE FROM QUINN RECORDS TM KEVIN WHEELER & R2 " LETS GO PARTY"
by Dwight L. Quinn
Virginia's R&B Soul sensations introduced their ninth Single today on the Quinn Records TM label titled,"Let's Go Party".
The new cut is strictly for the dance-floor party jammers, a soul filled cut that is fit for D.J. Jamming-Club-jumping enjoyment.
Kevin has long been wanting to do a what he calls a real soul sound. Signed on to the Label in 2004. Kevin has enjoyed experimenting with various musical experiences that has took him from Spiritual to Smooth Jazz and from Hip/hop to Soul. All because of the freedom afforded to
him by the Label. When Kevin, talked about adding to reportorial, some Soul, was at the very heart of his original attention when signing to the Label Kevin called on help of Quinn Records TM label founder Dwight Quinn to match him up with right song that best defined the musical character, of this Virginia Jammer and to get himself noticed in the Southern Soul Market. Quinn, found what he thought was the right cut, in the Little Delta Music catalog ,the Publishing arm of Malaco Records,(the Southern Soul Label),and pulled out "Lets Go Party" written by Bobby Conerly and Charles Ray Burton. "Lets Go Party" had that feel and bounce that makes for a great party grooving dance song. After hearing the demo the first time Kevin was hooked and immediately got the feel and here we are, Kevin promised that things are going to get better as him and R2 start their tour.
"Lets Go Party" will be a must-listen to blast coming from over the Airways, through the internet and right out to rocking, back in woods,street-side Clubs around the Country."Lets Go Party"!

MY FAVORITE JUNK FOOD WAS A BOX OF CRACKER JACKS
by Dwight Quinn
I bet you didn't know that when ever you purchase a Quinn Records TM product, we always give the customer something Free, it just comes natural with the Company. The idea came about when I was a boy growing up in East St. Louis. My favorite junk food was a box of Cracker Jacks. What I became to love and appreciate about a box of Cracker jacks, is that it wasn't the fact that it was a great tasting, lip-smacking snack with its sweet caramel covered popcorn flavor and roasted salted peanuts that blended well with popcorn, it was as I began to realize that with every box of Cracker jacks that you purchased there were always a prize in the box. It was Free, a plastic ring or a spinning top you name it, it was the prize that excited us. And it soon became apparent that it was the FREE prizes that was drawing us kids to the Cracker Jacks, the prizes was creating the buzz and making for a grand conversation piece, a friend maker and so on. Well I took that Cracker Jacks mentality into the business with me and applied the same strategy here at Quinn Records TM. We appreciate the customer so much that it is always proper for us to give the customer something back. To show our deepest appreciation and thanks for their business.
Quinn Records TM, from July 24th, 2013 until August 24th, 2013 is offering 25% Off List Price Program on all of our Gospel Albums, our customers will not find this offer nowhere else but at Quinn Records TM Online Store. And, if you purchase two or more CD's, we'll give you a FREE Quinn Records TM Signature T-Shirt, a $16.98 value or maybe another CD to go along with the purchase, that's just what we do. After almost forty-two years in business we still get overly excited when customer buy from us. It's the "Cracker Jacks" in us.
And, please do take our "FREE SHIPPING" program seriously when a purchase of $99.99 is ringed up on our P O S Register. We will Ship your order anywhere in the greater U.S.A. FREE. And don't be surprised if you won't find an additional Free gift when your order arrives, we can just see the smile on your face....
I know that being generous to our customers, will make for a grand conversation piece, a friend-maker, a collection item, but most of all, it will be a token of our most deepest and sincere appreciation for doing business with us. Giving back, just comes from our,"Cracker Jack Box" mentality.

QUINN RECEIVED SOME ENLIGHTENMENT FROM MARSHALL THOMPSON OF THE CHI-LITES
I'm just a bigger fan today as I was in years past of Groups like the Chi-lites out of Chicago, Illinois. I had the pleasure of speaking with Marshall Thompson Saturday by phone in great length. And I was totally delighted with the wisdom and enlightenment that I gained from my conversation with Marshall. He brought me out of that Old School mode and into the understanding of the now a day, what-you-should-know, about the entertainment climate the habits, attitudes and practices that influences the Live Music Market.
Well it soon became pretty clear that I had been walking around with blinders on, being distracted by the effects, and paying little or no attention to the, cause i.e.(the Market). We both agreed that the Music business has definitely changed and the audience (the Market) that we play to today is just as different as we were (the Market) in the 60's. I can't emphasize enough as to how different that we were. And it's that different that causes, change, how they buy, how they listen to music, how they move it around, what's acceptable today as opposed to what
was and wasn't acceptable yesteryear is 360 degrees different. But the fundamental foundation of the Business are still intact.
Marshall Thompson new Album, Hot On A Thing is riding on the waves of the today's sound but like a pro, Marshall carefully applied this legendary Groups signature-sound-style that is a legacy of the Chi-Lites.
For those of you, who haven't had the pleasure of hearing, Marshall's new Album, Hot On A Thing. I highly recommend you to click this link and Listen,
Just fourteen and half more weeks will mark a very special milestone at Quinn Records TM. THE ARTIST FAMILY TEAM WORKING TOGETHER.
by Dwight L. Quinn
If there's one thing that I've notice , here at the Company, is the strong sense of creative energy that seem to never stop flowing in the Artist family at Quinn Records TM. I'm delighted to have such great talent around me who are not only looking out for their own career growth and welfare but they also put their skills and talents where ever needed in the Company doing whatever it takes to keep both areas operating at full steam. This week alone behind the scene Artist Kevin Wheeler has been working diligently
both in the Studio and in the field recruiting, interviewing and rehearsing new Band members for the kick off of KL&R 2 road shows, with the plan being focused on most shows being self-produced. Kevin has remixed his I Got My Swag On Album, and has expanded the Album to include three (3) new songs. Kevin has brought on Harvey Lee on as his percussionist. The Artist Family has decided last week to increase the Band size from five to eight musicians, that's going to include two horns, that will give them a total of three horns in the Band.
A.J Dickerson, who's a well known Music Scholar and entertainer in his own rights, in the St. Louis Music World was instrumental in partnering Quinn Records TM with a local venue to bring Live Southern Soul, Blues and Jazz Shows through this new St. Louis venue. Mr. Dickerson, Oliver Johnson and myself, met Monday at the Club with the owner and finalized the arrangement. The first Show according to Oliver Johnson has been scheduled for Thursday September 26th,2013 and there will be regular scheduled Live Shows from that point on. I want to re-introduce St. Louis to the outstanding Southern Soul acts that are out there today, that would be a new exciting and long awaited experience for the St. Louis Market.
James Gilbert is bringing a new and exciting image to Quinn Records TM with his education and major in Broadcasting,Voice overs for Radio and Television. James has already made a great noticeable impact on the Company not only as a great outstanding artist but his behind the scene work it's very welcomed. James is now the official Voice for Quinn Records TM taking us into the today's world of visual and sound technology.
The Artist Family Team working together, communicating, sharing ideas among each other and helping each other in there career goals is something to watch. They most definitely want the customer to know that they will be at all times, giving to them by way of there music, their very best.

When You Strip A Way The Glamour.
You know the old wisdom "All that shine is not gold, and " Looks are Deceiving and so on. Well there's a whole lot of truth to those aged old pieces of wisdom. And I discovered it in my early days in the Music business, I came into the Business like most, totally with no reality at all, I told my reality to wait outside for me until I get back, I got this! Than all of a sudden I noticed that I went from eating choice cut fresh meat to can meat, potted meat, spam. I'm asking myself now what going wrong here, this is not the way it suppose to be, I'm in the record business. I' ll go to my office, put up the phone to make a call , no dial tone, so I leave but when I get the parking lot, guess what, my car is gone,so I calls the police so that I can make out a police report for a stolen car, well don't you have any idea who may have stolen your car the policeman would ask, and I would say yeah!,police would ask, than who and tell'em the Bank stole it. Man those days was rough when you leave reality waiting outside.
I'm glad of one if nothing, else, my father always taught me and brothers to honest with your self first and you'll find it easy to honest with others. I realized that I was going to succeed at this business unless I go back and get my reality back and than go forth.
Now I see my business as a business, a living entity that needs focused attention, that need to know not only who its customers are,but what they want, in terms of products and service. We don't second guest.
Don't be fooled Music is Entertaining but it takes Business management with planning to get it to and from the stag to the Bank.
I average 20 working hours a day, trying to get Quinn Records TM right, right doesn't mean that we're doing something that is wrong, right in our strategy that means, simply staying on course with our idea and plan. We're not in the Hit making business, we don't trade on Wall Street,we're in the Listening business specializing in Artist Development and make music for, as they use to call it,"turn-table" use and for customer who only like new music in their favorite genre and wants it right now.
We're diverse, we build on diversification it gives us a broader base product line and allows us to keep niche music that identifies with an eager to served Market making available the music that they are most familiar with thus rekindling again a useful and valuable product in today's market.

WAS A REGULAR ON THE CHIT'LIN CIRCUIT.
by Dwight Quinn
Freddie King was Born in Gilmer, Texas, Sept. 3, 1934, King was six years old when his uncle taught him how to play a guitar.Lil Aaron said, that this is where Freddie got his style of guitar playing from his uncle teaching.
Still a teenager Freddie left Gilmer,Texas and moved to Chicago, where he got into the urban Blues scene, going to clubs, sitting in with bands and eventually forming his own band, The Every Hour Blues Boys.
He began working as a Studio musician, doing sessions for than independent label Parrot Records.King auditioned for Chess Records, but was turned down, because it was said that he sounded too much like the then up coming blues artist Riley B. King a.k.a B.B. King.
He finally made his solo debut, as Freddy King in 1956 — he began spelling his name Freddie King in
1968 — with the single “Country Boy,” a duet with Margaret Whitfield, for El Bee Records.
Success was still a few years off. In 1960, he signed with Federal Records, a subsidiary of Syd Nathan’s
King Records label — a good omen, although his first single for the label, “Have You Ever Loved A Woman” (originally written by Billy Miles) made little impression. King began 1961 with “You’ve Got To Love Her With A Feeling,” which reached No. 93, then had his biggest pop-chart success with “Hide Away,” named after the Chicago bar Mel’s Hide Away Lounge. The swinging instrumental, partly drawn on other blues licks, was King’s sole Top 40 entry, peaking at No. 29 (and reaching No. 5 on the R&B charts); “San-Ho-Zay,” also released in 1961, just missed the Top 40 at No. 47 (No. 4 R&B). King alternated between releasing vocal and instrumental material, as evidenced by the albums he released in 1961: “Freddy King Sings” and “Let’s Hide Away and Dance Away With Freddy King: Strictly Instrumental.” King stayed with Federal until 1968.
A regular on the Chitlin’ Circuit, King landed a gig in 1966 in the The Beat Boys, the house band of the R&B TV show “The !!!! Beat” (the band was led by Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown). His stint with the show paved the way for a contract with Atlantic Records, which released the albums “Freddie King is a Blues Master” and “My Feeling for the Blues” in 1968. That same year, King did his first overseas tour to a warm welcome. There was a blues boom in Britain, and aficionados were already fans of King’s work.
“Hide Away” was covered by John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers on the 1966 album “Bluesbreakers With Eric Clapton,” and two other King numbers, “The Stumble” and “Someday After Awhile (You’ll Be Sorry)” were on the Mayall & The Bluesbreakers 1967 album “A Hard Road” (this time with Peter Green on guitar). “Have You Ever Loved A Woman” also would appear on Derek And The Dominos’ 1970 album “Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs,” and became a live favorite of Clapton’s. It was then that King began crossing over into the rock market. He signed with Leon Russell’s label, Shelter Records. Russell was very involved with King’s Shelter albums; he produced, performed and wrote songs for “Getting Ready” (1971), “Texas Cannonball” (1972) and “Woman Across The River” (1973, which reached No. 54 R&B,
No. 158 pop). “Getting Ready” featured another of King’s signature songs, “Going Down.”
The rock influences were now on the forefront, and King began playing for more white rock audiences. Grand Funk Railroad, which toured with King, even name checked him in their song, “We’re An American Band”: “Up all night with Freddie King/I got to tell you, poker’s his thing.” King also toured with Clapton and shared the stage with Led Zeppelin.
There was no shortage of musicians who wanted to work with King; both Clapton and Bobby Tench of The Jeff Beck Group appear on King’s 1974 album “Burglar.” Tench also appears on 1975’s “Larger Than Life” (the last album released during King’s lifetime, which reached No. 53 R&B).
King was considered the most emotive of the “Three Kings.” His singing has a pronounced rawness, and his guitar work is distinctive thanks to his use of thumb and finger picks (in contrast to B.B. King’s single-string style).
King’s primary means of making money was through touring, and he spent most of his years on the road. As a result, his health began to decline, and in 1976, he began having problems with stomach ulcers. King died Dec. 28, 1976, at the age of 42, suffering complications from his ulcers and pancreatic.
Freddie King didn't become a big name like,Fats Domino, Chuck Berry, Little Richard and B.B. King. He got life with the young rockers such as George Harrison, Jimi Hendricks, Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck they all displayed his influence in their playing and Freddie won a new audience.
King.

Happy Fathers Day To The Fathers Who Helped Made Us, Quinn Records TM
FATHERS DAY WEEKEND - Happy Fathers Day To The Fathers Who Helped Made Us, Quinn Records TM
From: Dwight Quinn,Founder/Quinn Records TM
I often think about the guys who came along during my earlier years in the business, who had the faith in my idea, enough so, to lend me their talent, knowledge and prudence that I still uses today. Starting with late Lil Aaron Mosby, through him I picked upon the humbleness that he presented also his deep undivided care and concerns that he had for other people. Those who knew Lil Aaron, while he was a live couldn't help from recognizing and picking upon , how polite and manner-able this man was, it just came natural for Lil Aaron to be polite. Lil Aaron never thought that he was a great Blues singer, he would always tell me Quinn,I don't get up there and sing, but instead I get up there and I talk to my audience. I learnt something new. The Late great Gospel singer,Reverend Anderson Sparks,a great motivator he believe in what we were trying to accomplish in the early days of our existence and Rev. Sparks jumped right into the business side of the company and things just flourish. Rev. Anderson Sparks is the person that was responsible for single-handily building the Gospel side of Quinn Records TM. Until this day, I would had never have thought that a great Gospel singer as the late Rev.Anderson Sparks knew so much about the Record business as he did, he taught me a lot about, the what and the way we do business today. Rev. Sparks understood the pros and cons of marketing, promoting and the importance of artists in this business, keeping themselves highly visible, with the purpose of building huge fan bases the key necessity needed in order to build a stable career in the Entertainment business. And all the way up until his death, Rev. Sparks would always make it a practice to hand carry our promo records to Radio Stations all across the country between, pastoring his Church, recording and performing live shows. Because of that " don't ease up-until the job is done"mentality of Rev. Anderson Sparks we have little patient for sleepers. Other great Fathers like the late Terry"Dewey" Williams,"Jimmy Jones and my mentor and former coffee buddy the late Leroy Crisp, I credit these men with all the wisdom, faith helping hands that they reached out to me and Quinn Records TM and made us what we are today. We're not a big Company in size, we're just a Company that do big things. And I say,Happy Fathers Day to them all. And thanks for their faith and support and as promised we will keep the fire a burning.....
