SPRING SUMMER AND THAN COME'S FALL!

by Dwight L. Quinn
This Summer you'll be hearing a lots more R&B coming out of our doors in these Summer Releases due out June,2013. Kevin of KL&R2 in particular are working on an aggressive Soul project that will almost surely put him and KL&R 2 in a demanding position.
And,James Gilbert our hot,new Recording Artist that hails from Kansas City, Missouri has already shown us what he can do. James has brought a whole new dimension and broadness to our sound and the fans are letting us know that by keeping James at the very Top of our Song Chart each week. James is expected to be releasing his second Album on the Quinn Records Label this Summer. With new and original cuts, and you guest it, it will have all of that KC "Rock" in each of the Songs along with those powerful vocal cords spurting out  soulful tunes.Oliver Johnson, the guy that brought the trumpet to soul, said that he has a bunch of new songs that he put together between gigs. Oliver will be offering a bit of both,Jazz and Soul in this package this Summer. I can't promise you how the weather is going to be out of doors but I can surely promise you that inside of Quinn Records TM, it's going to be HOT! And than comes Fall, this is the time when we usually Releases our last project for the year,i.e. October, but there's something usual about this coming October 27th, 2013 but from my perspective, it doesn't seen like it's been that long, but time doesn't lie either. This October 27th, 2013 will be marking our 42nd year in the Blues Business,"My-My Ain't It Funny How Time,Just Slips On Away?.-GO SLOW-Blues Crossing!

SUBMITTING YOUR MUSIC TO QUINN RECORDS TM

by Dwight Quinn, April 26th, 2013
Today the phone calls are a bit different than they were a few minutes back, when a promising artists would call us and ask, if we accepted unsolicited demos, and in our case the answer would always be "yes and then we would proceed on to give the caller instructions as to  how to send us the demo.
But, today the call come in asking us, do we accept unsolicited demos, and our answer is still, yes, but the different in this call is that the promising artist is now asking us can they email us a mp3 or several mp3's of their song or they would ask us to go to their website to both look and listen to their music. That process is good in one way but harmful in the other. Here's what I mean, Quinn Records TM take music very seriously, and we are always releasing new projects and in most cases with new upcoming artists. But in order to do that on a continuous bases, like year end and year out, we must have an inventory of available music. We get that available music from demos being sent in to us and we process those demos into our inventory and add the demo to our Library. Now only the demos the match our style of music gets to go into that inventory. So when each release quarter  rolls around we don't have to run around looking for new music, we already have it,and ready to go. Call it old school, but we call it resourcefulness. It's clear that technology is great for getting thing their fast, and being accessible, but that human thing that makes us different is utilizing time, each Thursday for many, many minutes we have set aside four hours( 10:00 am til 2:00 p.m) dedicated to listening to the demos that came in that week and when we hear one that meets our standards than we grab it up,process into our Library and contact the Artist with our decision, we don't mess around. We are serious, and we know that the next big act is out there somewhere and we want it. Now the guy that calls in and wants us to stop and go to there website or send us an mp3 along with the 6000 emails that we get everyday, we can't process them in that way. Email gets deleted, computers crashes and gets attacked by viruses, that's not good for neither one of us. Our physical Library don't have those kind of crises or threats, so the artists Demo is always available to us to be used in a Quinn's project.  Our newest Artist to the Quinn Records TM family of Recording Artists, James Gilbert, It's A Real Good Sign, was selected from our Library of Demos and he's doing well, but if it wasn't for our Library of Demos,he would have been over looked. So we have a Demo Policy that is good for both parties, a Demo is a File and that's the way we treat it. And that's the place where we go to four times a year when it's time to get ready for us to release a new project. So I hope that this shaded a little light on submitting your music to Quinn Records TM. Keep your Demos coming in.

Oliver Johnson "the guy that bought the trumpet to Soul", has been busy working Shows six and sometimes seven nights a week found time to get a little Studio work in between gigs. Today he told me that he have come with some awesome new material that will fit Quinn Records TM taste to a tee. Well, Oliver should know what kind of music that we like. Since he's credited with over eight Albums and four Singles on the Quinn Records TM's label. Oliver Johnson is a very active member of the St. Louis blues, jazz and Motown community. QUINN APPROVED KL&R2'S NEW R&B/SOUL RECORDING PROJECT FOR JUNE 2013.

Early today Quinn approved a very ambitious R&B project presented to the Company by the R&B group KL&R2 who has been a member of the Quinn Records TM recording family since 2003. KL&R2 and Quinn have for a very long time wanted to do a real down-to-earth Rhythm and Blues/ Soul project that really represented the heart and true nature of Soul music. And in order to do such a thing we had to go back in the past and search out  and identify  a source among a huge regiment of  talent that was performing  in the era of Soul from the time of 1962
up til 1966, that would fit the message and style that we wants to relay to our customers and Soul music fans. Kevin, the front man for KL&R2, came up with a choice that Quinn could not refuse. For the focal point of the project Kevin chose two top hit cuts recorded by the late-great King of Soul, Mr.Solomon Burke," If You Need Me Call Me"and "Tonight's The Night". Kevin told Quinn that  he felt this famous artist and without one  shadow of a doubt  he could pull this project off as tribute to the King of Soul Solomon Burke. Kevin couldn't have come up with a better choice, because Mr. Solomon Burke was right there at the beginning of the Soul music era and ranked high among the top Soul acts of the time.So with Quinn's blessing, Kevin got the the green light to go ahead with the project that will be launched the first week in June, 2013. The project will be recorded and videoed  in front of a Live audience and Kevin has promised us and his fans that he's going to nail this very ambitious Soul and Blues project that is  due to be  released on the Quinn Records TM label this Summer 2013. -GO SLOW-Blues Crossing!

Terry Williams A Particularly Rhythmic And Energetic Organist.

Terry Williams is a rhythmic and energetic organist who works within what is essentially a Rhythm and Blues, that ins less than Jazz than it is Jazz oriented.
As is true of nearly all organists, Terry began his career as a pianist and led his own combo in high school and worked his earlier years with some of the Midwest's prominent legends, Jimmy (Night-Train) Forrest, Tab Smith, Chuck Berry, and later while traveling with the Royal American Show in the Caribbean, joined Arthur and Red Prysock in Puerto Rico at the El San Juan Hilton. Upon his return  from touring, he took over the band-leader position at Leo's famous Blue Note Club, and after a lengthy stay at the club, Terry went into the International Playboy Club circuit for five years. One year of that time as band-leader with Gene Lynn which ultimately evolved into,"The Gene Lynn Show,"on Channel 30 TV in St.Louis. Terry travels and rapidly growing reputation gained him respect from his friends and colleagues. Organist Jimmy Smith, Richard(Groove) Holmes, the late Sonny Stitt and Gene Ammons are only a few of the Super Stars with whom Terry performed.

Terry Williams is by no means a newcomer to Show Business and the World of Jazz. His exploits in radio and television is unlimited. Terry has worked on five major television stations in the St. Louis area, channels 2,4,5,9 and 30. Terry shared the top billing with Billy Eckstine and Timmie Rodgers at the than, Kiel Auditorium, at which time,Mr. Eckstine publicly acknowledge, that Terry had the biggest four piece band that he had ever heard".

Terry, also a top vocalist, diversified his expertise with warm, easy flowing and a well controlled voice of a balladeer.
Here' a bit of Terry Williams on YouTube published by Quinn Records TM 2010, Enjoy.
